Sunset Beach showed its many moods once again for Day 2 of action, and this time, power surfing took center stage for those willing to roll the dice. Heavy eliminations were dealt in the Round of 32 courtesy of Frederico Morais' excellent showing over World No 1 Barron Mamiya, electric form from Ethan Ewing, and dominant showings from Jake Marshall and more to set up big Round of 16 bouts. Kanoa Igarashi, John John Florence, Italo Ferreira, and Liam O'Brien put their names atop the watchlist as they moved into the Quarterfinals with convincing performances of their own.
