Schedule: Contest Cancelled
Conditions: Inconsistent one foot (0.3 metre) surf at A Lanzada. Offshore winds. Blue skies.
Official Assessment:
After four days of minimal swell, the ASP 1-Star Men & Women Rias Baixas Pro, Stop No.1 on the European Qualifying Series, has been officially cancelled.
An exceptional scenario in early Spring, any chance of incoming swell was blocked by an anti-cyclonic system off the tip of Spain bringing clear blue skies and strong offshore winds but no waves to the beautiful coastline of the Pontevedra area.
“Unfortunately we have had to cancel the event due to lack of waves,†Rob Gunning, ASP Europe Tour Manager stated. “Organisers have done all they could to try and run the contest but Mother Nature hasn't been on our side this time.â€
“On behalf of ASP Europe I would like to thank all the athletes who supported the Rias Baixas Pro,†Gunning continued. “Also the Diputacion de Pontevedra and Rias Baixas Turism for their amazing support and all the other partners who have made this event possible. We hope to be back next season with a new edition of the Rias Baixas Pro.â€
