TAGHAZOUT, Morocco (Sunday, February 23, 2025) - The World Surf League Pro Taghazout Bay Qualifying Series (QS) 3,000 continued today in fun four-to-six foot surf at Anchor Point to complete the Men's Round of 96, the Women's Opening Round and eight heats of the Men's Round of 64.

Light offshore winds groomed the perfect walls of Anchor Point's world class waves for a massive day of competition. Conditions were smaller and slower, but there was still plenty of energy pulsating through the lineup and it improved in the afternoon as the tide dropped.

Championship Tour (CT) surfer Ramzi Boukhiam got the crowds to their feet in the final heat of the day, when the local hero found a gem at Anchor Point. Throwing buckets of spray on his turns, Boukhiam took the lead with an excellent 8.50 (out of a possible 10) and backed it up to take the win at his homebreak.

The men's Round of 64 got off to a blistering start with Maxime Huscenot and Marc Lacomare dominating the first heat to eliminate Shane Sykes and Brad Scott. Huscenot opened his campaign in Taghazout with a 7.67 and then backed it up on one of the best waves of the morning, unleashing huge turns on a big set wave to score an excellent 8.43.

After his impressive performance in the previous two rounds, it came as no surprise when Lacomare scored his third excellent ride of the Pro Taghazout Bay with an 8.23, advancing to the Round of 32 alongside Huscenot.

It was a tough day in the office for the South African camp, losing a few of their big hitters in the Round of 64. Luke Van Wyk and Joshe Faulkner secured heat wins, with Adin Masencamp hanging onto second in his heat to advance to the next round. Other big names which fell surprisingly early included Portugal's Afonso Antunes, Francisco Ordonhas and Spain's Conor Donegan Santos.

The Women's Opening Round got underway today with impressive performances from Lilou Rumiel and Sol Borelli. It was their commitment to the end section and strong maneuvers in the critical part of the wave that earned them solid scores from the judges. Nahia Milhau and Belle Betteridge also won their heats to advance.

In the Round of 96, excellent scores came in for Lukas Skinner, Enzo Cavallini and Sean Gunning to book their spots in the Round of 64, which will resume tomorrow.

The next call will be on Monday, February 2024 at 6:45 AM for a possible start at 7:15 AM GMT.
