Over the weekend, 23-year-old Lakey Peterson got engaged to long-time boyfriend Thomas Allan near her hometown of Santa Barbara. Allan, a Qualifying Series surfer from Australia, got on one knee and popped the question to the current World No. 6 with close friends and family nearby. With 2018 already off to a strong start, Peterson is looking healthier and happier than ever heading into the new season which, in the past, has proven to be a dangerous combo for her opponents.
The couple captured the moment and shared the news on Instagram:
Close friend and World No.8 Sage Erickson was there to witness. "Originally this was all going to go down before Christmas. Seems the fires and mudslides that happened in our hometown couldn't stop Tom. He chose Lake Casitas up in Ojai. It's probably one of the only places that wasn't completely burned to the ground. With everything going on Lakey actually gave up a little on the proposal coming this trip."
"Tom is like Lakey, very thought out, a great planner and very driven!," Erickson continued. "It was so cool to see how excited he was about this moment. He's always been such a romantic with Lakes and their love is so special. They work as a perfect team and Tom knows her so well that I felt he knew what she wanted 100 percent. She is one happy wife-to-be and I couldn't be more happy for them."
Congratulations on your engagement Lakey Peterson and Thomas Allan! Be sure to check out Lakey's return to the world stage at the Roxy Pro Gold Coast Mar 11-22.
