Opening day at the 2017 Vans World Cup at Sunset Beach kicked off in dramatic fashion today. A large swell and strong side-shore winds created treacherous conditions for the final 10,000-level Qualifying Series event on the tour's schedule. And as usual, a large contingency of Hawaii locals and outer-islanders, made their impact felt over the course of a long day. Peter Mel and Strider Wasilewski joined Chris Cote on set to recap all the big stories from the day.
