In a big upset, Lakey Peterson defeated World No. 2 Tyler Wright in their Semifinal matchup at the Roxy Pro France. For Wright, who somehow made it to the Semis despite a torn MCL, the loss there means that she'll head into Maui still trailing rankings leader Sally Fitzgibbons in the Title race. But for Peterson, the runner-up finish bumps her up three spots on the rankings, to World No. 6. It's a huge indicator of what's possible for Peterson, as well as a bit of re-qualification relief, now that she's in safer territory in terms of points. Her finish in France is also a nice bookend to her first result of the season, in which she finished runner-up at Snapper Rocks.
