Italo Tops Owen in Crucial Round One Win

Brazilian Italo Ferreira has only two career appearances at the Billabong Pro Tahiti, and while his stats aren't staggering, they're certainly worthy of respect. Heading into Friday's competition he owned four heat wins, with an average heat score (AHS) of 13.46, and a win percentage of 57 percent, which puts him at No. 8 on Tour. On Friday he padded that stat with a big Round One win over No. 4-ranked Owen Wright at Teahupo'o. He turned the heat on this wave.
