Jack Freestone continues to show newfound maturity in his competitive surfing, having just dispatched a frustrated Conner Coffin from the get go in Round Five, Heat 1. Freestone had to re-qualify for the CT via the Qualifying Series in 2016 and the exercise looks to have been a positive, albeit humbling, experience. The emphasis is now clearly on his strengths -- power and progression -- without any of the haphazard, wave-finishing heroics of the past.
