Tyler Wright, Malia Manuel and Sage Erickson delivered the most entertaining heat of the day during their Round Three match. While all three surfed well, it ultimately became a slugfest between Manuel and Wright. Manuel opened strong, and held the lead for most of the heat with her inspired surfing, looking every bit the contender she is. But Wright came clawing back the way World Champs do. She unleashed on this racy right that earned her a 9.57. Malia wasn't done though. She fired back with a 9.00 of her own. Then, in the closing moments Tyler overtook the Hawaiian for good with an 8.37.
