Dozens of the world's best big-wave surfers raced to Portugal on Tuesday to compete in the first-ever paddle-in event at Nazaré, the most revered big wave in Europe. They were greeted with stellar conditions at sun up, and competitors quickly got busy charging the massive peaks. As you'll see in this highlight reel, some were more successful than others. But all the heavy drops, wild wipeouts, and severe poundings were a price worth paying for those waves that proved makable. Hats off to the surfers.
