Honolua Bay took a while to wake up this morning, but once the machine-like rights started to spin, the high-performance action didn't stop. Despite the small swell, a handful of top seeds scored big on the set waves during Round One. Tyler Wright, Courtney Conlogue, Steph Gilmore, and Carissa Moore all put on dominant performances on their way to early wins. However, Australian Keely Andrew started a different trend when she relegated Sally Fitzgibbons and Johanne Defay to Round Two. Both Defay and Fitzgibbons were later knocked out during an upset-filled elimination round.
