Georgia Fish (Australia/Victoria) placed 2nd in Quarterfinal 2 at the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing, defeated by French surfer Maud Le Car. Fish finished the event in equal 5th place.

Malia Manuel of Hawaii winning Round 5 Heat 4 at the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing in Australia today. Manuel saw the funny side of the extremely small waves at this event on this wave which netted a strong score 7 out of 10 score and she went onto an easy victory over Australia's Keely Andrew. Manuel will face Australia's Nikki Van Dijk in tomorrows Quarterfinals and she'll be even more pleased to know that much bigger waves are forecast for tomorrow.

Nikki Van Dijk is through to the Quarterfinals at the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing. Van Dijk progressed through round 4 heat 1 this morning defeating and eliminating Pauline Ado of France. Van Dijk will face Hawaii's Malia Manuel in tomorrow's Quarterfinals.

Carissa Moore (Hawaii), reigning ASP Women's World Champion was the standout surfer at the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing today. Moore posted the highest single wave score of the event thus far - 9.60 out of a possible 10 in Round 4 Heat 2, for a series of devastatingly powerful carves. Reigning ASP Women's World Junior Champion Ella Williams also advanced in 2nd position behind Moore.

Tyler Wright (Australia), the current ASP World Ranked number 2 surfer, was a shock elimination in Round 3 Heat 9 at the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing at Manly today. Wright struggled throughout her heat held in very small waves and was defeated by relatively unknown international pair Nage Melamed (Hawaii) and Anali Gomez (Peru). As a warm-up event to the coming ASP World Championship Tour, today's loss does not affect Wrights ranking - Her World Championship Tour season begins on March 1st at the Roxy Pro on the Gold Coast.
