Praia de Caparica, Almada / Portugal - The World Surf League is proud to unveil a new event, the Caparica Primavera Surf Fest, a Men and Women's Junior division, that will launch the 2015 season from April 1-4.
Stop N°1 of 5 on the European Junior Series, this new event will be the first of two under-20 competitions to take place in Portugal. With a revamped Junior Tour in 2015 and all events offering the same amount of ranking points, each location will play a vital role in crowning the regional champion and qualifiers for the coveted World Junior Title.
“World Surf League Europe are very excited to add this inaugural Junior Tour Series 1000 event to our 2015 schedule,†Rob Gunning, European Tour Manager said. “The Caparica Primavera Surf Fest will kick off our region's Junior series where Europe's top male and female under-20 surfers will be out to claim the event title and lead the 2015 rankings.'
“Event organizers and the city council of Almada are working hard on staging a huge music festival along with national surfing contests to enhance a 10 day surf and music experience for the region which the WSL are proud to be associated with.†Gunning continued.

Just a short two-months away from starting the competition, anticipation builds amongst the young up-and-comers who will battle it out for the event crown. With reigning Junior Champion Vasco Ribeiro (PRT) now competing on the Qualifying Series, the door is wide opened for the next generation to swoop in and steal the show.
Aside from the main WSL surfing event, the Caparica Primavera Surf Fest will also feature three national competitions hosting a total of over 500 athletes during the 10-day event window, as well as a big music festival featuring Portuguese artists.
