It's been a roller coaster year for Dusty Payne. Last winter the Hawaiian fell off the ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), in the summer he underwent knee surgery and in late fall came back to win the first event of the 2014 Vans Triple Crown, the Reef Hawaiian Pro, which bumped him up a remarkable 73 places on the men's Qualification Series (QS) rankings. A strong finish as the Vans World Cup, and he could potentially find himself back on the elite Tour. Between events, he got personal about the ups -- and downs -- of pro surfing.
