High hopes for a big day of competition came to fruition with some of the best Challenger Series conditions to date thanks to the Burton Automotive Newcastle SURFEST Presented by Bonsoy.

Countless heaving barrels and a high-performance spectacle provided the platform for 14-year-old Tya Zebrowski and Xavier Huxtable to walk away as the day's standout performers. The women's youth, including Zebrowski, Eden Walla, Arena Rodriguez and more shaking up the top-seeded Round of 32 proceedings. Then, Huxtable's fellow Aussies Liam O'Brien, Morgan Cibilic and Jacob Willcox all notched big wins of their own. But, Mateus Herdy and Peterson Crisanto's day-ending antics provided excellence to seal off a ridiculous day of Challenger Series history. Mereweather Beach shows little signs of backing down with more high-octane action on the horizon with Round of 16 bouts ready to battle for Finals Day showings.
