GRANDE PLAGE, Lacanau / France – ASP Europe is pleased to announce the confirmation of its longest-standing event in the ASP 5-Star Soöruz Lacanau Pro and 1-Star Lacanau Pro Junior for August 2014.
One of the most anticipated stops in the European summer leg of events, the Lacanau meets will once again expose professional surfing to the thousands of fans and tourists to grace the iconic beaches of Gironde.
“The Sooruz Lacanau Pro is back again and ASP Europe is delighted to have it on our 2014 schedule,†Rob Gunning, Tour Manager said. “A lot of work has gone in to making this event happen this year and especially the additional investment towards repairing the beach and access areas after the huge winter storms which battered the coast 6 months ago. As a men 5-Star Qualifying Series event the Sooruz Lacanau Pro is an important stepping stone for both International and regional surfers to build on their rankings points.â€
While the past winter has had a huge impact on the coastline infrastructures, chances are the sand banks will once again produce exceptional conditions for some of the world's most talented surfers to perform on.
“The nine days of action will kick off with the 1-Star Men's Lacanau Pro Junior, 3rd stop of the ASP Europe Pro Junior tour,†Gunning continued. “This event has traditionally attracted huge fields with a handful of International juniors always in the draw to add surfing level and prestige to the event. This year is looking no different and we are pleased to announce the confirmation of the events in Lacanau.â€
Lacanau has crowned some of the most highly recognized surfers in the world as past champions and continues to inspire generations of up-and-coming talents. The 2014 editions promise red-hot action in and out of the water with the traditional music festivities to light up the Lacanau nights.
