For the Surf City El Salvador Pro, we teamed up with WSL PURE grantees Paso Pacifico and Oriente Salvaje to protect El Salvador's well-known rivers from the impacts of plastic pollution and engage the community in a plastic upcycling project. The grant funding will help to install river barriers to prevent plastic from entering the ocean and polluting world-class surf breaks and empower community members to lead upcycling efforts. Together partners are leveraging the sport of surfing to promote sustainable tourism and achieve long-term ecosystem conservation. WSL One Ocean is supported by Shiseido and YETI with regional support from Corona.
