With an unreal connection to Portugal, Italo Ferreira has been a constant reference point throughout our Top 10 Supertubos moments. In 2015, he announced himself as a player with his first CT Final in his rookie year. In 2018, he claimed his inaugural win in Portuguese waters, airblasting his way to a win over Gabriel Medina.
"That was so sick, I'm so glad to go back-to-back and win again," said Ferreira. "Congrats to everyone. I'm so happy, what an amazing event. It has been so special for me the last couple of months, I'm so happy with myself and my team, it's been amazing. That air was unreal and I'm so glad I landed it, it was a special heat for me against Jordy (Smith) who's one of the best competitors."
Italo now looks to add to his resume and trophy case by taking out another win at the heaviest beach break in Europe. With the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal set to run soon, it's hard not to think just what Italo will do. If past performances are anything to go by, its going to be something special.
