The WSL is saddened by the loss of the young Hawaiian surfer, Kalani David. David passed away at age 24 after he suffered a seizure while surfing in Costa Rica on September 17th, 2022.
Widely recognized for his unique skate and surf style, David had a talent that was beyond his time. He won the World Junior Surfing Championship at age 14 in 2012, and that same year competed in skateboarding at the X Games in Los Angeles. Not only was he known for his athletic genius, but his humbleness and kind heart that touched the lives of many. At his young age, David was already a legend and will continue to be remembered as one forever. The WSL sends condolences to the huge community of David's friends and family during this difficult time.
