It's no secret that Autumn is a great time for surf on Australia's East Coast, which has been enjoying a run of solid swell. The air is cooler, the wetsuits are out and, if you're lucky, there are all-day offshores.
With surf travel off the cards for the time being, it sure pays to live within striking distance of some of these waves. Here's just a few examples of some of the world's best surfers scoring over the past few days.
Mick Fanning is well and truly back and shredding as hard as ever after a knee injury. The three-time World Champion made the most of a weekend of swell with some solid beach break tubes.
Laura Enever has made a name for herself a serious charger, so it's no surprise she was one of the surfers enjoying some of the biggest, cleanest waves Sydney has seen for several years. She paddled into some at one of the big-wave spots near her home in Narrabeen, on the Northern Beaches.
A certain 11-time World Champion was also in Sydney for the swell, taking on one of its more infamous slabs. Kelly Slater was getting amongst it, and charging as hard as you'd expect, to the delight of onlookers up on the cliffs.
Wade Carmichael was one of those lucky enough to have access to a ski, which made taming some of the very solid beachies around Far North NSW and South East Queensland a bit more of a user-friendly experience.
There were spots firing along much of Australia's eastern seaboard, with everyone from Word Champions to local chargers lucking into some gems.
Dean Morrison is a confirmed tube wizard, and it looks like the Gold Coast legend was among the crew scoring some absolute bombs alongside grom Ashton Pignat, who locked into this barrel.
