COOLANGATTA, QLD/AUS (Thursday, February 13, 2020) - Boost Mobile is set to continue their strong affiliation with professional surfing in 2020 as the title partner of the third stop of the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT) in Western Australia. The Boost Mobile Margaret River Pro will run in the picturesque South West of Western Australia from April 22 to May 2, 2020.
"We're really happy to continue our strong relationship with Boost Mobile in 2020," said WSL Asia Pacific General Manager Andrew Stark. "Boost Mobile has been a core supporter of surfing for over two decades now and is the perfect fit as the title sponsor for an event with a rich history like the Margaret River Pro. With varying but equally consequential breaks on offer for competition, the 2020 Boost Mobile Margaret River Pro is sure to be one of the most exciting stops on the year's Championship Tour."
Boost team rider and provisional Australian Olympic Team representative Sally Fitzgibbons is thrilled to have Boost on board for one of her favourite events of the season. Currently sitting at world number 5, Fitzgibbons will be looking to secure her second victory in the West.
"It's so exciting to have Boost Mobile come on board as naming rights partner for another Championship Tour stop," said Fitzgibbons. "Margaret River is one of my favourite locations, it represents such a pure and beautiful part of Australia and I love that Boost see the value in how special it is and what it brings to the CT. It is a remote location and fits perfectly with the fact that you can connect anywhere with Boost to stream all the action, especially in that WA region. There is nothing more epic than competing in your home Aussie events and to have it as your sponsor's event also sets the stage for another awesome experience. I can't wait to surf in front of the Margaret River community."
West Australian surfing prodigy Jack Robinson is one of the most exciting additions to the WSL Championship Tour in years. As a former Vans Triple crown winner and the only WA representative on the men's CT, Robinson is world-renowned for his prowess in solid surf and will be a favourite to take out his home, and sponsor's event, the Boost Mobile Margaret River Pro.
"Everyone knows WA is my home and where I grew up surfing," Robinson said. "I love it when the tour comes back to my local breaks and I can compete around family and friends. I have joined the Boost Mobile team which I am stoked about. I know Boost has had a long history of supporting surfing over the years including partnerships with Taj, Andy, Kelly and Sally to name a few. Being a part of the Boost mobile family and to have Boost step up to become the title sponsor of a major tour event that's in my own backyard is just awesome."
Boost Mobile has a long and supportive history with professional surfing, one that will continue to make waves in 2020. Boost Mobile will endeavour to bring fans closer to their favourite sport, no matter where they are, with some of the most competitive new prepaid 4G plans on the Telstra Mobile Network.
Boost Mobile General Manager Jason Haynes said, "Boost Mobile has been supporting Surfing and Surfers for over 20 years. We are proud to expand on our great partnership with WSL to become the title sponsor for the 3rd stop on the dream tour. Surfers in general travel, especially when looking for the next best wave, including great locations like Western Australia, therefore our product is very relevant.
