LOS ANGELES, California/USA (Sunday, December 22, 2019) - Today WSL Studios and Corona released a short film paying homage to the effortless style, craft, and form of surfing - the freedom we all daydream about. Road to the Highline, directed by Kai Neville, is now playing on WorldSurfLeague.com.
Documenting a road-trip from Durban to Jeffreys Bay, this film brings you along for a 10 day adventure in South Africa with Mikey February as he shapes and tests four retro twin-fins. The film culminates in one incredible Corona Highline expression session on the world stage as Mikey shares waves with his friends - in this case - some of the world's best surfers including Stephanie Gilmore, Johanne Defay and Ryan Callinan.
At its core, this is a film about connection - to surfing heritage and those that have shaped it, to those you've known your entire life and the individuals you encounter along the road. The film captures these unique moments of connection - the shared experiences in and out of the water and the personal style throughout.
"The Corona Highline event and this film are about giving a spotlight to style and expression in surfing," said Evan Ellman, Global Brand Director, Corona. "Mikey February is a one-of-a-kind talent in and out of the water and we are honored to be working with him and the World Surf League to bring stories like this to life."
"Corona is a very important partner of the WSL, and we're honored to produce this event and film together to celebrate the elegance and style of our athletes," said Cherie Cohen, Chief Revenue Officer of the WSL. "This brand really understands how uniquely connected our sport is to creativity and expression both in and out of the water."
The Road to the Highline is now streaming on WorldSurfLeague.com
