LOS ANGELES, California/USA (Monday, April 29, 2019) - It's been confirmed that Vincent "Sunny" Garcia, 2000 ASP World Champion and six-time Hawaiian Triple Crown Champion, is currently in hospital in ICU.
Growing up in the Hawaiian neighborhood of Wai'anae on Oahu's westside, Garcia made his professional debut as a 17-year-old in at the 1986 Gotcha Pro at Sandy Beach where he defeated 1984 World Champion Tom Carroll.
A consistent fixture in the global Top 10 throughout the 1990s, Garcia existed as the standard-bearer for power surfing and raw Hawaiian style.
In 2000, 14 years after his professional surfing debut, Sunny claimed the long sought-after World Title.
Revered across the surfing world for his presence both in and out of the water, Sunny is globally celebrated as a true champion.
Our prayers are with him and his loved ones at this deeply challenging time.
