Phillip Island is set to host some of the best up and coming talent from around Australia and the world this weekend as thePhillip Island Pro pres by Bass Coast Shire heads into its second year in the wave rich region.
A perfect Cape Woolamai Line Up - WSL / Liam Robertson
The 5 Day WSL Men's and Women's Qualifying Series (QS) 1000 event will be held at Cape Woolamai. This beautiful stretch of coast is regarded as one of the best surfing beaches in the world with strong powerful waves providing the great rides for surfers.
The international field will see some incredible surfing talent in both the Men's and Women's divisions with former WSL World Junior Champion Isabella Nicholls (QLD), 2018 Australia / Oceania Junior Qualifying Series Champion Kehu Butler (NZL), Big Wave Charger and former U/18 ISA World Junior Champ Dean Bowen (NSW) and Australian Junior Champion Xavier Huxtable (VIC) all competing at the event.
Women's top seed Isabella Nichols - WSL / Damien Poullenot
Currently sitting in third on the WSL Australia / Oceania Regional QS Rankings, Novacastrian Morgan Cibilic is hoping to springboard into top spot with a solid result at the Phillip Island Pro. Having not competed in Phillip Island for a few years, Cibilic is hoping to continue his epic form from the recent WA Pro Surf Series into this weekends event.
"I'm excited to get back down to Phillip Island and compete," Cibilic said. "There is always so many waves down there and no matter what the swell or wind is doing you can find something decent to surf. The rankings are definitely on my mind a lot as a good result here could solidify me in the top spot which would really boost my seed. Taking out the regional QS title would be huge as it would give me a sot into the QS10,000 and 6000 events next year - so this is a really important event for me."

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Pamela Rothfield says Bass Coast Shire Council proudly supports the event and is pleased to see equal pay for all competitors.
"Bass Coast is well known as a leading event destination and host and we are wrapped that the Phillip Island Pro is leading the way with pay equality for women in sport. It sends a great message to our community and our visitors," Cr Rothfield said.
Minister for Sport, John Eren said the Victorian Government was proud to bring the world's best surfers to Phillip Island.
The Phillip Island Pro will run from November 2 - 6, 2018 on Phillip Island.
