The WSL sanctioned Men's and Women's Qualifying Series (QS) event has attracted surfers from six different nations - as well as a host of surfers from right across Australia to compete for a total prize pool of $15,000 and all import WSL QS ratings points.
The top seeded male surfer for the event is Jacob Willcox who is looking to build some momentum before heading away for another Hawaiian winter.
"It's so awesome to have a couple of QS events here in WA, I spend so much of the year travelling to events that it's nice to have some close to home," said Willcox. "The last time I surfed in Mandurah was for a Rip Curl GromSearch event when I was still in the Under 12's division, so I'm looking forward to getting back there. I've never surfed Avalon Point, but the forecast has some swell on the way so I'm sure it's going to be a fun event."

Willcox will come up against local Mandurah wildcard Macklin Flynn in the second round of competition.
Former Championship Tour (CT) surfer Claire Bevilacqua will be the top seeded female in the Mandurah Pro is wrapped to have multiple WSL QS events coming up in Western Australia.
"I've been hoping for a QS event at Yallingup my whole career," said Bevilacqua. "To have two world class events in our home state is a true blessing and I'm excited to see what Mandurah will bring."

Event organisers are excited with the field of talent converging on the Mandurah region to compete.
"We're really looking forward to kicking off the first ever Mandurah Pro," said Surfing WA events manager Justin Majeks. "With a four day competition window we can really pick the eyes out of the forecast and put the surfers out in the best surf Mandurah can throw at them. We're looking closely at a possible start on Sunday with a bump in the swell and some clean and favourable conditions forecast in the days following."

Mandurah is one of WA's favourite holiday destinations and lies just beyond the southern boundary of the metropolitan area. Renown for it's boating and water sport lifestyle, Mandurah has breed its fair share of talented surfers over the years and offers a great variety of quality waves.
"Being out in the water is part of the Mandurah community's DNA. We have some of the best beaches in WA, and some great surf breaks, and I hope we can attract more events like this to our shores into the future," said City of Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams. "As Mandurah's worst amateur surfer, I think it's really exciting that this event is coming to our City, and I can't wait to check it out."
