LOS ANGELES, California/USA (Tuesday, September 25, 2018): The World Surf League (WSL) today announced it is expanding its partnership with Snap to produce a new weekly Publisher Story. New editions will be released to Snapchatters globally every Monday at 6am ET on the Discover page. Previously released editions will be available using Snapchat's Search feature.
Utilizing a range of innovative storytelling formats and interactivity, each edition will offer fans access to the incredible world of surfing, including a look at life beyond the jersey. The first edition debuted September 10 and featured WSL's historic decision to award equal prize money to men and women across all WSL controlled events starting in 2019.
"This partnership is a fantastic opportunity to showcase and raise the profile of our incredible athletes with the Snap audience as well as diversify our content offering across platforms," said Tim Greenberg, WSL Chief Community Officer. WSL and Snap have been partners since 2015, giving Snapchatters an inside look at the world of surfing, its athletes and its fans with Our Story coverage of WSL's regional and global events.
