Evan Geiselman came into the Hurley Pro at Trestles with high hopes of making an impact as a the wildcard. He's already succeeded. The Floridian opened the first heat of Round Two with a huge upset win over World No. 3 Matt Wilkinson. The defeat puts a huge dent in Wilko's World Title hopes, especially since World No. 1 Jordy Smith and World No. 2 John John Florence nabbed Round One wins. It's also a stark reminder for the rest of the pack that wildcards here can never be taken lightly. Geiselman has been competing against a lot of these Championship Tour stars since he was a grom. But while many of his peers have graduated to the elite level, Evan's still trying to put it together on the Qualifying Series, where he's currently No. 29. A confidence-booster here might just kickstart his effort -- and he's off to a good start.
