Despite a difficult year back on the elite Championship Tour, Silvana Lima broke through to Round Three for the second time this year Tuesday at Huntington Beach. The Brazilian, who is known as a powerhouse above the lip, is back on the CT for an incredible third time, but has had a rough run this year, and sits at No. 14 on the Jeep Leaderboard, four spots below the cutoff for re-qualification. She has had more success, however, on the Qualifying Series (QS), where she won the Los Cabos Open of Surf earlier this summer, and just finished in fifth place at the Paul Mitchell Neon Supergirl Pro. A single heat win is by no means a total turnaround, but it could be the small breakthrough she needs to kick her season into a higher gear.
