Californian Sage Erickson has already found some success this season, with a Semifinal finish at the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro in Australia. Now, here at the Oi Rio Women's Pro, she's back at it again with some significant performances at Saquarema.
Saturday in Round Three, Erickson packed a punch with a surprisingly precise backhand attack. First she opened with a solid 8.93, putting some early pressure on Keely Andrew and reigning World Champ Tyler Wright. But she didn't stop there: She went on to score a whopping 9.33, effectively shutting the door on the other two women, who had to try again in Round Four. With that heat win, Erickson jumped directly to the Quarterfinals where, regardless of whether she wins or not, she'll net a minimum fifth-place finish.
