The Telstra Stores Tweed Coast Pro will once again land on the northern tip of NSW when the World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) 1000 rated event kicks off in February 2017 at Cabarita.
The elite five-day competition - which will form the second of four stops on the Vissla NSW Pro Surf Series - will take place from 1 - 5 February, 2017.
Over-200 of Australia's and the world's most promising male and female surfers will compete in the event, which will see over 20 different countries represented across both divisions.
Fresh off a win at the recent Flight Centre Burleigh Pro, 2015 Women's World Junior Champion Isabella Nichols is heading to the 2017 Telstra Stores Tweed Coast Pro brimming with confidence. The young Sunshine Coaster is looking forward to returning to one of her favourite locations to surf in a contest.
"I'm really looking forward to surfing in the Tweed Coast Pro this week," Nichols said. "I've surfed =around the Tweed Coast a fair bit because I love the variety of waves and it's a stunning area. I'm excited to put on the jersey for my second event this year. It's always difficult coming off a win and trying to back it up but I'm looking forward to the challenge."
Bill Tatchell, Chief Executive Officer of Destination Tweed can';t wait to see the world's best surfers hit the water at the beautiful beiges surrounding Cabarita.
"Destination Tweed is really excited about the Telstra Stores Tweed Coast Pro and what it brings to the region," said Tatchell. "Seeing some of the best up-and-coming surfers competing at Cabarita is great for all local surfers and we hope it gives the young local surfers something to aspire towards as they get older."
