In a series of high stakes Round Two heats at the Vans World Cup, a few top seeds stepped up in macking Sunset conditions to keep their Championship Tour dreams alive.
Australian CT surfer Ryan Callinan made a huge last-minute charge to secure a spot in Round Three as he fights to hold his No. 9 Qualifying Series rank. Following him, No. 10 ranked Portuguese powerhouse Frederico Morais continued his winning form following his huge second place result in the Hawaiian Pro.
Morais posted one of the highest heat totals of the morning on his way to a commanding win. Californian Tanner Gudauaskas (No. 19), Australian Mitch Crews (No. 20) also squeaked into Round Three.
But it wasn't all glory this morning. Unfortunately, CT hopefuls Victor Bernardo and Dion Atkinson went down in their tight Round Two battles.
