The Soöruz Lacanau Pro is on Stand By. Event officials have called a lay day due to insufficient swell on offer.
A one-foot swell from the northwest is producing 1-to-2 foot surf as the competition bank concentrates all the swell's energy to one particular peak, but organizers deemed conditions uncontestable for professional surfers.
"It's still tiny today, and the forecast is looking slightly better for the upcoming days," Rob Gunning, WSL Europe Tour Manager said. "We'll come back early tomorrow morning and re-assess conditions for a potential big day of competition."
Event No. 2 of 7 in the European Qualifying Series, the Soöruz Lacanau Pro is one of the longest running events in Europe, having crowned champions since Greg Loehr (USA) in 1979, and across multiple divisions of the then IPS, ASP and now World Surf League.
The next call is set for Thursday morning 7:30 a.m. for a potential start of the second round.
