One of the oldest European professional surfing events, the Pantin Classic Galicia Pro is set to return to the playa de Pantin for its 28th edition September 1 - 6, 2015.
"Without a doubt returning to Pantin once again for the 28th edition is a highlight of our QS calendar for 2015," Rob Gunning, WSL Europe Tour Manager stated. "Over the past editions we have seen major improvements in infrastructures, video content and live streaming. The Pantin Classic Galicia Pro is developing into a quality event on the international QS tour."
Stop N°3 of a seven-event leg on the men's QS Europe, the Pantin Classic Galicia Pro will play an important role in deciding the region's top surfers and ultimately the European Champion. It is also a great opportunity for younger surfers to measure themselves among the more experienced crew of traveling competitors. Last year's edition saw reigning European Junior Champion Leonardo Fioravanti (ITA) 17, claim the coveted Pantin trophy.
The women's division has a more international dimension, with several of the World's best athletes competing to either maintain their position on the Samsung Galaxy Women's Championship Tour or try to qualify for CT. Brazil's Silvana Lima (BRA) 30, who won the 2015 edition, went on to secure her spot among the elite Top 17 and is now pushing the level of performance to new heights by including aerial maneuvers in her repertoire.
"A QS6000 women's event will prove once again vital for all surfers looking to progress to the Championship Tour," Gunning continued. "The men's division will prove no less important with all competitors doing battle for points and the prestigious Pantin Classic title."
The world renowned "wave factory" of Pantin will most likely produce quality waves again, as the early September season sees distant groundswells send classic conditions to the exposed beachbreak.
